Is PureVPN currently working in mainland China? (updated 2020)

Recently, the status of some VPN services in mainland China has not been stable. As one of the most popular VPN vendors in the world, PureVPN has a lot of users from China, but does PureVPN currently work in mainland China?

To answer the question, we have done some connectivity testing in a real environment (i.e., from China), so that we can have a better and accurate understanding of how PureVPN works in China.

Let’s take a look at the testing environment and results:

We tested PureVPN on Windows 10 and Apple’s iPhone system. As of 30 May 2020, the results of the tests are as follows:

  • Windows 10 System Connection PureVPN Status: working
  • Apple iPhone iOS connection PureVPN status: working

It is important to note that in the above tests, we did not use PureVPN’s official client software or the official mobile phone app. On Windows 10 systems, we used a secure third-party client. On the iPhone, we used iPhone’s built-in VPN client.

On Windows 10, we successfully obtained an IP address in Switzerland after connecting to a VPN server. The iPhone, also connected to the Swiss server, received a Swiss Zurich IP address. On the computer and mobile phone system, the stability and speed of VPN connections are good, but overall, the stability of the mobile phone app is better.

Overall, PureVPN’s work well in mainland China on both PC and iPhone. So if you are looking for a working VPN in China, you should give PureVPN a try.
